Bath and Body Works- Free Travel Size Item with ANY Purchase!

I ADORE these coupons!  You can buy the cheapest thing in the store if you want, and get a free travel size item of your choice.  Their "travel sizes" are actually pretty decent sized, if you ask me!

Last time, I bought a 50 cent hand sanitizer holder, and 2 mini hand sanitizers (regularly $1.50 each, but mine were clearanced to 75 cents each after Mother's Day).  For my free items, I got a matching set of lotion, body wash, and body spray.  I paid a total of $2, and the freebies alone were worth $15.  A great way to spoil yourself, or make a fun gift for someone!

All you have to do is separate your transactions.  1 item your're buying, 1 free travel size item, and 1 coupon.  You can print as many of these coupons as you want, and lather, rinse, repeat :-)

Target/WalMart Trip: Paid $40.21 for $180.37 worth of items

Here's the breakdown of the shopping trip my mom and I made for our families yesterday.  It was awesome!  I've broken it up into multiple photos because it was such a huge haul.

We have only been doing this a few weeks, and if you're a beginner I'd like to encourage you.  I know it can seem overwhelming at first, but not for long!  For a few days or weeks, take some time that you would normally spend just doinking around on facebook, watching TV, whatever, and use it to educate yourself!  Read couponing blogs, forums, facebook pages, and watch YouTube videos.  Familiarize yourself with the coupon and ad match policies of the stores in your area, and always carry printed copies of them!  I often recommend some of my favorite couponing resources to my facebook followers.  If you've missed it, just drop by there and ask and I'll be happy to share them again.

It will be some work up front but once you know it, you'll always be able to use it!  You will get better and faster as time goes on.  Are we able to save money on *everything* that we buy?  Nope!  We still have to buy lots of fresh foods and just hope for good sales or occasional coupons on those.  If there are no sales and we need to buy it anyway, we still buy it.  But you know what?  The more we save on other items, the more money can be in the budget for healthy foods, bills, fun, etc.!

We were just beginning to get our coupons organized into a binder, and realized we couldn't even fit our food coupons into it, lol!  So we went shopping with JUST our personal and household products binder and got the food just by ad matching the Fred Meyers Founders Days sale.  We could have saved more with coupons, but we weren't prepared enough and it was almost midnight and the sale was going to be over so we took advantage of it while we still could.  We also forgot $3 worth of fresh produce peelie coupons from the cereals, but we'll just save those for another time.  Below is the full breakdown of original prices, and prices after coupons/sales/ad-matching.  Unfortunately, many of these deals are now expired, but this is a great example of what can be done when you've got the right coupons and sales to match up.

Another couponing trip, paid $13.39 for about $60 worth of stuff

$54 worth of Bath and Body Works lotion:  $11 after coupons and sale

2 bottles of Spic and Span:  $1 total after coupon

Gain dish soap:  39 cents after coupon and sale

3 bars of Zest: $1 after coupon

Before coupons and sales, this would have cost about $60!
Total amount paid for what you see here:  $13.39

I'm NEVER paying full price for Bath and Body Works stuff again, lol!  Between myself, my daughters, friends, and the many other women and girls in my family, it's great to have this little stockpile of nice lotions going on.  They'll make great stocking stuffers, or a nice something extra to toss in with birthday gifts :-)

Today, my mom met a woman in a store that has cut her grocery bill down from about $400 a month to less than $100.  Wouldn't that be wonderful?  I think it will take a while to get the hang of couponing, and I certainly don't plan to take it to the extreme and spend 40 hours a week on it like some of the people on TV, lol!  But whatever savings I can accomplish in a *reasonable* amount of time is a great thing.

How I got $71.50 worth of stuff for $11.50 today!

(click photo to enlarge)

Today, my mom and I had a little couponing/freebie experiment and I got all of the stuff you see above for only about $11.50!  Normally, that would have cost over $70.

Here's a break down:

The first aid kits were only 44 cents total after coupon (great for carrying in your purse)

The toothpaste was only 7 cents.

The lighters were FREE with coupon.

And how did I score $66 worth of Bath and Body Works products for $11?

3 coupons for FREE 2oz bottles of their new lotion, 'Into the Wild'.  One redeemed by me, two redeemed by my daughters.

Then I had a coupon that would give me a free item worth up to $5, with ANY purchase.  So I bought a little bottle of their new lotion scent, which was on sale for $1 instead of $3.50.  Then for my FREE item, I got a $5 bottle of lotion (bottom middle of pic)

After that purchase, they gave me a coupon for a free item up to $12, with any $10 purchase, so I turned right around and used it!  The 2oz bottles of their new scent were on sale for $1 each instead of the usual $3.50.  I bought ten of those, bringing my total for that transaction to $10, and allowing me to get a FREE Signature Collection item (middle of photo).  So I got the $12 bottle of body cream for free.

Yup, all that awesome B&BW lotion for 11 bucks!

To top it all off, it was all technically completely free.  I paid for it with a $25 American Express card that I got for free, bwahahahaa!  Zero money out of pocket.  Yup, happy camper here, lol.

Here's what my mom got:

She used the same coupons.  Got one free bottle of their new lotion.  Bought another bottle of it for $1 and got a free $5 bottle in a different scent.  Then instead of getting 10 little bottles like I did, for $10, she got 3 of the $5 bottles, that were on sale 3/$10.  So that made her transaction $10, and she got herself a free big Signature Collection lotion for it.  Overall, she also spent only $11 at Bath and Body works, and just 51 cents for her other items.

It was a GREAT day and we LOVE our memberships to That Free Thing!!!
